House On The Hill

Nestled within the serene expanse of the Mornington Peninsula, this house stands as a testament to thoughtful design. Positioned atop a hill, it experiences panoramic vistas of rolling hills and lush valleys, while ensconced by a dense native forest.

Within the serene expanse of the Mornington Peninsula and its lush valleys and dense native forest, a contemporary rammed-earth addition to a hand-built mud brick home stands as a testament to designing in tune with nature.

The long corridors of rammed earth draw the eye to the serene expanse of the Mornington Peninsula and its lush valleys and dense native forest, striking a delicate balance between expansiveness and intimacy.

Meticulously integrated into its natural surroundings, every aspect of the design reflects a deep appreciation for the landscape. The new wings seamlessly wrap around the site, connecting to the existing structure through a glass entrance and inviting the outside in.

The original house was hand built over four decades ago and the mud brick home hosted countless cherished moments for our clients. Now, with a new rammed earth extension designed in two L shaped wings, the dwelling has evolved into a harmonious blend of old and new that caters to the needs of the home’s multigenerational family.

The long corridors of rammed earth draw the eye to the serene expanse of the Mornington Peninsula and its lush valleys and dense native forest, striking a delicate balance between expansiveness and intimacy. The living room, a hub of familial gatherings, offers uninterrupted panoramas, where time seems to stand still.  The restrained colour palette, inspired by the adjacent forest, effortlessly transitions between indoor and outdoor spaces.

House on the Hill epitomises the symbiotic relationship between architecture and environment. It stands as a testament to timeless design principles, harmonising with the land upon which it rests, and offering a sanctuary for generations to come.
